The combined situation

SwapFace is a real time face swap service that supports live video conferencing applications. It enables face swap for Zoom, Discord video, and OBS streaming. When SwapFace output appears on Bluesky, removal proceeds through the statutory takedown process under 47 USC 223a combined with source attribution to strengthen the legal claim.

Why this combination is high risk

Real time face swap creates novel harm vectors including impersonation in business video calls and intimate partner deception. On Bluesky specifically, bluesky's open atproto network allows third party clients and appviews to display the same content. a removal from the official bluesky app does not always remove from third party clients.

How removal proceeds

Bluesky accepts NCII reports through its in app moderation flow and through its trust and safety email. The PDS architecture means content is hosted on individual personal data servers in addition to the network appView. Source attribution to SwapFace is documented through swapface real time output displays characteristic latency artifacts including occasional face misalignment during rapid head movement, which strengthens the takedown notice and supports parallel legal action.
